A Manifesto
A wave of spiritual feminism is rising as a backlash to the overt power moves being made by Christian Nationalists in our country.
I was raised in a place of mega-churches, with a standard language of complementarian mansplaining. I know intimately how Christian Nationalists have been leading a campaign to consolidate social and political power and maintain a “moral” minority. Ultimate authority demands control over woman’s innate spiritual tendencies, which begin with the feminine body (no matter the gender).
The divine feminine is a threat to a masculine-dominant world order.
I was once asked by a young devout Christian woman if I was religious. I said that I was spiritual, but not religious—to which she responded, “How? I don’t understand how anyone can be spiritual without being Christian. I don’t believe that is possible.” I was profoundly effected by this uncritical examination of spirituality—and the evidence of such deep indoctrination. The interaction set me on a path to analyze my own spirituality and discover how I might make it visible. I learned that it looks different with every new phase of my life.
I believe it is The Divine Feminine that will lead a new spiritual revolution, through a return to mythology, archetype and universal symbols. And a return to worshipping—not raping—our Mother Earth.
